SAN ANTONIO, TX - The San Antonio Professional Firefighters Association is once again holding its annual breast cancer awareness T-shirt sale through the month of October. The proceeds raised will benefit Susan G. Komen San Antonio.
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which aims to increase awareness of the disease and raise money for research into its cause, prevention, treatment, and cure. The American Cancer Society estimates there will be more than 249,000 new cases of breast cancer in 2016, and at least 49,000 people will die of it.
The sale has been going on since 2010, but it wasn't opened to the public until 2012. Since 2012, the sale has raised more than $40,000 for victims and survivors of breast cancer. In 2015, the San Antonio Professional Firefighters Association raised more than $12,000.
The T-shirt sale will begin Tuesday, Oct. 4. We will be selling our cotton pink or blue crew neck shirts for $15 each and our dri-fit material shirts crew neck or v-neck will be sold for $20 each. Long sleeved shirts are $25. We will be selling all leftover stock from last year for $10 a shirt. (View the shirts below)
T-shirts will be sold during regular business hours at our hall at 8925 IH-10 West northbound access road between Callaghan and Wurzbach, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The shirts will also be sold at Hero Fest 2016 on Sunday, Oct. 9 and at our Firefighter Appreciation Night at our hall Saturday, Oct. 22.
