On July 24th, 2015 San Antonio Professional Firefighters from Fire Station 29 rescue a man from threating to jump off a highway overpass.

The following is an account from San Antonio Professional Firefighter, Benjamin Donahoe (FF E29-C).

"I was in the bay when a lady in her vehicle pulled onto the apron at station 29. She honked at me and pointed to the overpass of Hot Wells and I-37. I looked around the corner and saw a man standing on the guard rail over the northbound traffic lane of I-37..." (read more below)

"I was in the bay when a lady in her vehicle pulled onto the apron at station 29. She honked at me and pointed to the overpass of Hot Wells and I-37. I looked around the corner and saw a man standing on the guard rail over the northbound traffic lane of I-37. I notified the rest of the guys in the station, we put ourselves in on the run, called PD, and approached the man in attempts to get him to come down from the railing.

A civilian was already on scene talking with the man, and recording him with his cell phone. Lt. Cheatham spoke with the man and attempted to convince him to climb down. After their conversation we were not sure if he was actually going to jump or not, even though he was extremely emotional and refusing to come down. After he had nearly slipped off of the railing we were certain he was going to at least fall off accidentally, and immediate actions needed to be taken. Once the man was in a position where I was sure I could get a good grip on his waist, I planted my foot against the railing and pulled him off of the guard rail onto the sidewalk. We escorted him into fire station 29, evaluated him, provided him with some water, and let PD transport him for further care."
